If only our whiteboards were backed with a feltboard.

Don’t let your sleeves dangle. Don’t stand up too fast.

Last year I got to visit a church that was an old Hills department store. This place was one massive room, but they did a great dividing it up using a few temporary walls, other furniture, and a lot of potted plants. I haven’t quite figured out how they did it, but they found a great balance of providing both large and small areas for different activities.
Living in a dorm these past few years has definitely showed the importance of both individual and group areas. It’s great to be clustered together and shout down the hall, “Anyone up for a game of Rampage?” to get a half dozen heads pop up and join you. But when you’re trying to get work done, it can be tough to find a quiet space.
As far as whiteboards in the dorm go, everyone’s got one on their door (for messages from friends) as well as one inside the room (for daily to-do lists). The best part is when we sneak additional to-do items onto each other’s whiteboards. My personal favorite is “1. Update Forums graphics. 2. Play Sonic w/ Aaron. 3. Build a trampoline that toasts bread when you jump on it.”
