If only our whiteboards came with a salesdude.

My favorite part of UPS’s whiteboard-based marketing site is the awkward transition from animated medium-length-long-hair guy to static medium-length-long-hair guy. That kind of thing is so hard to get right without it seeming completely herky-jerky.

So worth it.

(Every week or so, we round up what others are saying about GameTap and present a sampling of the chatter. Let us know if you see other GameTap-related posts out in the wild!)

  • Dan wisely keeps his platform-agnostic hands full with GameTap, a Wii, a 360, and a PS3. DEDICATED.
  • Rona is a stay-at-home mom who recognizes GameTap’s value — and would be well-served by memorizing something like this.
  • Broy is operating in severe stream-of-consciousness mode (SSOC).
  • Jay won that sweet Sam & Max Joystiq raffle.
  • The Normal One tugs at the heartstrings.
  • Bonnie is keeping her site alive and intends to talk a lot about her experiences in Myst Online.
  • bravetiger27 deservedly shows off their Sonic 2 high score — top of the all-time leaderboards!
  • Storygamer has a really nice write-up of The Last Express and kindly requests that someone develop more real-time adventure games.
  • Duncan runs the numbers on episodic gaming and concludes that Sam & Max is as valuable as good episodic television. (This coincides nicely with our own Rick Sanchez’s recent Gamsutra piece.)

New this week.

Since I’m sure everyone’s already plowed through the first ToeJam & Earl, you’ll be happy to know that the more platform-y sequel, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, is FOR SURE in the catalog TODAY. It’s Sequels Week, after all — with a subring in GameTap Picks ready for the riflin’.

New Games:

New on GameTap TV:

  • GameTap News: The Final Countdown
  • Sam & Max: Reality Blights
  • Sam & Max: Aaiiieee, Robot
  • SeaLab 2021: The Policy

er, Happy New Year

If no one has noticed, xamount seems to have a lot more time to post on this blog than I do. Or, maybe I’m just a slacker. (You make the call. No. Wait. Don’t. :) No, really, I had to shop for an outfit to wear to the Emmys. Uh huh. Yep, that’s it.)

Happy New Year, everyone. Look forward with us to a 2007 filled with some really cool GameTap treats.

Nice that the One Laptop Per Child OX interface design is starting to get mainstream media attention. I like how the designers haven’t locked themselves into the nearly 30 year-old desktop interface metaphor. It’ll be interesting to see how this decidedly gaming console-like (is that a prototype Mii Plaza?) community interface approach translates.
