March 1st, 2007 by xamountThis week features a lot of games where you’re not driving on pavement (and one where you are). Oh man, I just realized that Tough Trucks has a Cooter cameo? That I will HAVE to play. This (from the Cooter Davenport wikipedia entry) still cracks me up:
During the 1979-1980 [The Dukes of Hazzard] season, Ben Jones boycotted the show due to a dispute with the producers: Jones felt the character should have a beard and the producers insisted that he be clean-shaven. As a result, Jones left the show for several episodes and it was explained in the series that Cooter was out of town.

#1) I’m guessing I82 and TOCA 3 and Super Cycle are being held back for Driving Week II: Electric Boogaloo? 1NSANE is welcome though, as we’ve got a separate following that’s gotten into it since last week’s free release and some of us wouldn’t like to visit Starforce Removal Tool land.
#2) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the announcement of the Space Empires games. I was about to get on the suggestion horn about adding some 4X games since all we really have to represent it is Civilization III.

And Freespace 2! That game has had permanent residence on my gaming drive since I bought it those many years ago, but I’m still excited that GameTap is getting it.

Heck, think big, pick up the TLJ MMO as well.
Realistically though, Dreamfall appeared on Steam, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the episodic content shows up there as well.

random question: why does gametap randomly delete my favorite games? it’s fucking annoying to download baldur’s gate. the client needs to ASK me what games I want to delete, and make sure they are not the only ones I ever play

Last month, they started announcing games in the coming soon list that weren’t actually immediate. I think what they had there last week was a month’s preview. Based on what’s known so far (with the next two weeks being Space weeks), I’d expect both Myth games to either come the 22nd, or the 29th. Leaning towards the 29th though because Sam and Max Episode 5 is also out on the 22nd, and I don’t think they’d want to take TOO much away from that.

Tmoney: I know it’s not the solution you’re looking for, but you might want to make sure there isn’t any cruft in your cache. Go to My GameTap/Playlists/Downloaded and clear out anything you don’t want. You might also want to go to My GameTap/Account Settings/Local Storage and allocate more space.
