The signature squeak.
June 29th, 2007 by dinahSomething we’ve seen in the suggestion box since the day we launched (and in blog posts and forums all over) was a request to make our opening splash video in the Deluxe Player a little more quiet. In 1.8, we let you bypass the intro video with the ESC key.
Today, we bring you a new, quiet intro.
Open the tap. Squeak. Play.

are you talking about the big blue globe movie thingie?
the very first thing ive always done after every update is delete that file… problem solved.
now if only i could make the stupid videos that play on the home screen NOT play, id be a happy happy camper. even better, just bypass the home screen ENTIRELY. just dump me at my playlists, please.

Big blue globe movie thingie’s gone. Its much shorter/less annoying now.

Yay! Great move, guys. Anything that makes it easier to get into your app (while still maintaining branding) is a bonus.
(Anyone want to revist the “Two clicks or video” issue from January?)

Thankyou! I’ve jumped out of my seat on countless occasions when the noise started.

It’d be nice if the intro clip ended in something that transitioned well to the actual interface. While the new intro is less annoying, it’s still an awkward fade from the solid blue screen to that mostly-black-and-green interface. Especially because, at least on my computer, it seems to pause for a moment as it fades.

Thank you!

Ah, this is much more tolerable. Before I was always ready to smash esc the instant that cacophonous ball appeared.

I was going to thank you the first day I noticed it, but didn’t get around to stopping by here. It’s much better now, and I can even start GameTap at night without concern for waking up my downstairs neighbor!
BTW, I get the same pause as the movie fades to the interface that LuigiHann mentioned. Not a big deal, of course, but I figured confirmation couldn’t hurt

Phew. That’s the single client change I’ve always wanted. The original intro was downright maddening.
