We’re curious.
October 9th, 2007 by dinahThere’s a little gizmo in the bottom of the GameTap Deluxe Player and we’re wondering if you use it. If you do use it, please tell us how in comments. Thanks!

Do you use this thing?
Note: We just added a new option “Kinda sorta’, based on some of your comments.

I use it when I’m flipping back and forth between games. Only very rarely though.. there just wasn’t a “Sometimes” option on the poll. If it wasn’t there I wouldn’t miss it.

I used to use it (so I voted “yes” before I really thought about it) but most of what I used it for has been replaced by other features like “Similar Games” and “Recently Played.”

i used it a lot more when it kept track of everything i looked at, like it did before the big update, and not just what i had played.
unless it does that now, and i just dont know it because i havent logged into gametap in over a month, because they cant seem to manage to get a patch out for the only game i want to play right now.

Not often. Usually it doesn’t have what I want on it. Would be nice to let me park what I want there and have it persist through different sessions.

If it’s filled up, it’s because I’m just randomly looking at games, but I don’t really have a use for it.

I’d miss it if it wasn’t there.

I’d use it more often if it would retain info between sessions. As it is, I use it when I am browsing and want to look at “just one more” before going back to play something else, or when I carelessly navigate away from something I’m eying.

“Kinda sorta.” I use it on rare occasions when I’m browsing and want to go back, but a back button would be more useful. And the bottom bar would be useful if you could drag games to it and have them stay there like a “favorites.”

“kinda sorta”
I use it when I’m jumping through different playlists trying to decide what to download/play next. An easier way to go between playlists would make it unnecessary though.

I use it a bit, but mostly because I only play 4-5 games at once.

I use it every now and then, though not very much. I think that like Trelow I would use it alot more if it saved the list between sessions.
October 9th, 2007 at 4:39 pm
I’d miss it, it’s very useful for me. I also agree with what Trelow said about retaining data between sessions.

Not very often… Sometimes if Im scrolling through games and forget which one i was at, but it really isn’t too useful.
The space can probably be used for more creative things.

When I’m at work my girlfriend likes to play puzzle games, and when she tells me she found a good one in the library this little doodad lets me find it quick and easy.

I use it occasionally, usually when I’ve either (a) been flipping thru randomly and then decide to go load up something I looked at a few games ago or (b) accidentally killed the green bubble in the download station and then decided to go play my new game.

I’m curious what you were thinking about doing to it?
My vote would have been a bit more educated…

ahh, but that would be telling!
Actually, we’re working through some new options for the bottom toolbar and were curious not only *if* people use the dock, but *how* they do.
Thanks, everyone, for voting!

I use it sometimes. I would use it more often, but it always seems as if the game I want to get back to isn’t there.

“I’d use it more often if it would retain info between sessions.” Also, I used it more before the three games appeared in the profile area of the home window at start up.

[…] There are lots more little improvements and bug fixes scattered throughout (we took your overwhelming “kinda, sorta” votes and comments seriously when it came time to dealing with the game dock’s location). Make sure you get in there and explore. Seriously: the speed of getting into this thing is just amazing. Going back and forth between 3.1 and 3.5 in development has been a real eye-opener as to the weight of the old Deluxe Player. We took a load off. Now you do the same and let us know what you think.
