Lagoon. Bassoon. Cocoon. Monsoon. Harpoon. And my personal favorite: pantaloon! Not only do I like to wear pantaloons, I like to type pantaloon to re-murder zombies. That’s right, The Typing of the Dead is here. And it is fun, funny, stressful stuff. Get to typing, Mavis!

(Oh, and here’s a helpful tip for when you finally decide you need sleep or food: Alt-F4 is the only way to quit the game. I tried typing “QUIT”, “Leave me alone”, “I’m done with the zombies and the typing already” and others before stumbling upon the super-intuitive Alt-F4 combo.)

There’s a little gizmo in the bottom of the GameTap Deluxe Player and we’re wondering if you use it. If you do use it, please tell us how in comments. Thanks!

October’s Bumps in the Night promotion kicks off this week with Penumbra Overture. I have to admit, I kinda like this trend of games forcing you through a monitor brightness adjustment just to make sure you’re all set for the right level of scary darkness. BioShock pulls the same trick. The question is: do you cheat the system? Do you adjust so that you can more than “just barely make out the image”? Or are you so hardcore you make it darker than it’s supposed to be? Personally, I spend way too much time agonizing like I’m at the eye doctor trying to get it just right. This one, or this one? This one? Or this one?
