New this week.
November 1st, 2007 by xamountWhat’s another name for pirate treasure? I think it’s booty.
I kept wanting to be professor hinty last week and say that our only desire regarding this week’s secret release Sid Meier’s Pirates! was that you do the right thing and not download it illegally. Dinah thought it was too obscure; I was worried it was too obvious. Either way, it’s out now!

Downloading Pirates now.
I’m wondering how it compares to Port Royale 2, which I also thought was a very good game.

Yay! Pirates is on my list of games to buy. Now I don’t have to!

Bit disappointed in Pirates being the top secret game, mainly because I rented the Xbox version a while ago. Oh well, might play it again sometime.

Unfortunately, I seem to be in the crowd that Pirates! is broken for.
Also, a minor interface quibble I noticed earlier tonight. When a game is downloading or ready to play, the center part of the info card collapses to the left side. The show button is highlighted gold and very easy to spot, but if you expand the card out, the hide button is green and gets lost in the overall greenness of the right side of the infocard like so:

Nothing critical, but I did have to spend a few seconds hunting for a way to collapse the card back (which is really a bigger deal when a game is downloading since the card overlaps the ‘Download in Background’ button) and it’d really only take a little bit of color to fix.

I actually had problems with the disc version of this game and I suspect the gametap version would be the same. But, this is a great game and I hope many people on GameTap enjoy it.

Slack3r78: Got it, thanks! We’ll fix it up for next major release.
