New this week.

December 5th, 2007 by xamount

I like weeks like this: we get an arcade shmup, a run n gun, and an RTS. Blowout does not star John Travolta and features a dude named Dutch as the main character (Dutch is voiced by the very talented voice actor Tom Scharpling). Carrier Air Wing features enemy planes that fly in very handy swooping one-after-the-other formations. And I haven’t even had a chance to start the innovative Perimeter yet.

Tip of the week: play the newly free Motocross just to hear one of the catchiest, ripe-for-the-sampling intro themes ever. (Oh, and tell me if you can get past that honkingly huge hill at the end of the first level.)

What the heck, I’ve never even HEARD of Motocross, Miami Chase, or Mean Machine before, how can you make them free? :(

Anyways, I’m definitely going to try out Blowout and Carrier Air Wing, although at this point, I’m still working on TOCA 3 (I’ve barely scratched the World Tour, and then there’s all the extra championships…).

Never mind, I’m moving on now. TOCA was fun until it started frustrating me way too much (getting pushed off the course by another car every time gets annoying fast).

Blowout is pretty fun, but the controls suck with a gamepad. I made my own keyboard control scheme and it controls great without using the mouse. After beating Mission 1, I give it an 8/10.

Hmm - might have to try that Penquin. The game was kind of fun, but with the mouse control it was WAY too easy to turn around backwards while trying to aim.
