Audi 5000.

August 21st, 2008 by xamount

I tried coming up with a number of video game-y subject lines (Game Over, Insert Coin to Continue, etc.), but they all sounded way too dire for what’s about to transpire.  But, as promised, the return of the countdown clock.  Only this time, my clever coworkers reworked the message a bit and hoisted it up above my desk while I wasn’t looking:

Countdown to no me.

Yeah, that’s me in the TapHole.  Tomorrow marks my last day as a GameTap employee — on Monday I’m heading down the street to start my new job at Cartoon Network.  And while I’m super excited about this new opportunity, MAN am I sad about leaving this place.  Dinah brought me on two years ago, and it has been a life-changer.  Best job I’ve ever had, BY FAR.  So much of that has been about getting to know and mixing it up with everyone out there in the community.  Thank you so much for your contributions throughout my GameTap ride.

Keep it going — and I’ll join you as a fellow fan,

xamount.

Wow, goodluck in the new job! Are you able to tell us what you’ll be doing for Cartoon Network?

If you get over there with Andy Merrill tell him the world needs more Brak.

Anyways goodluck in the new job. Hope you keep this blog going. I may not comment much but I do read it.

Don’t worry - I’ll be around to keep Angled Whiteboards on its feet. Though, in absorbing xamount’s workload, those feet might not move all too quickly. 8)

Peter: Sweet, I’m gettin’ an Audi!
Brian: Uh, Peter, that says audit.
Peter: No, Brian, it’s foreign? The T is silent. Sweet, I’m gettin’ an Audi!

Er… Oops! I forgot the second part of my message. Anyway, thanks for everything you’ve done to make GameTap even better than it was when I first subscribed. Don’t be a stranger on the forums, and go do some great things over at CN! :)

GameTap will truly miss you, xamount. And I have to agree, GameTap was the best gig I ever had, the best thing I ever did, and the best people I ever had the joy of working with.

Go do great stuff at Cartoon. They’re lucky to have you!

Thanks for keeping up this blog! It’s been great getting an inside look at GameTap. Best wishes at Cartoon Network! Perhaps you can start blogging about the craziness there as well? :)

I’ve already given my private goodbyes to Xamount, but he has been an awesome force behind the scenes and I’ve had many a conversation with him on the art of birthday parties and hot dogs. GameTap’s losing a good one this week but I wish you all the best over in Cartoon land. Remember to pitch that Aqua Teen spinoff I mentioned. ;)

Thanks for the kind words and well-wishes everyone. I’m gonna miss the day-to-day with you all!
